The XP Overwatch Community Cup Season One is being held in India, by Global Esports. Registrations closed 3 weeks ago, and a total of 32 teams all over from South East Asia have participated in the tournament. The final prelims got over on April 29th and now Semi-Finals & Grand Finals remain, which will be held on 6th May. All the matches were streamed live on twitch.tv/GlobalEsportsIn
The prize pool is 10 Million XP Coins – this is a digital currency being used as a reward system for video games and other activities, and it can be sold for real value on cryptocurrency exchanges. It uses the Proof-Of-Stake reward system. 10 Million XP Coin is close to 1800 USD (120,000 INR) in value right now, as per current prices on CoinGecko. Learn more about XP Coin here.
The Global Esports management team reported overwhelming response in participation – they even had to extend the tournament by another day. This is a really great Overwatch Tournament being held in India, although most participating teams are not from India. Here is the full list of participants, as reported by Global Esports –
[GE] Team XP
The Abusement Park
State Bank Of Overwatch
VelXarD™ BoLT BiRD
NerdRage – Nr5
Some giveaways were also being hosted throughout the tournament. The rules are pretty straightforward – 6v6 Double Elimination Mode, Competitive Mode enabled, Manually Selected Maps (voting system), and no cheating of course.

About Global Esports
Global Esports is an Esports League based in Mumbai, India. They’ve been organizing esports tournaments for Overwatch since mid-2017, some being partnered with Chennai Esports. They have partnered with Experience Points (XP Coin), Cooler Master, Twitch TV and Chennai Esports too.
Their recent tournaments use XP Coins as the prize pool, an interesting approach to providing prize money but it is accepted in many cryptocurrency exchanges, so it’s good.
They’re also giving away 25x $10 Steam Gift Cards (Globally). You can enter the giveaway here.
Stay tuned for the Grand Finals & Semi-Finals, scheduled to be held on 6th May and will be live-streamed exclusively on Global Esports Twitch Channel.
