The Xbox Game Pass, which was previously limited to Xbox consoles, is finally coming to PC.
In an official announcement, Microsoft has revealed that they are going to bring their Xbox Game Pass to PC this year. Phil Spencer, Xbox head, stated in an official press release – “We designed a service specifically for the needs of PC gamers and PC game developers. It’s called Xbox Game Pass, just like the original, but it’s a new experience that we are building together with the PC community.” As per his statement, it seems like the Xbox Game Pass on PC will be slightly different as compared to it’s Xbox counterpart. Perhaps it is because of the obvious reason that this Pass will come with numerous PC games rather than console titles.
As per Microsoft’s announcement, the Xbox Game Pass for PC will offer “a curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games on Windows 10”. “We’re working with over 75 developers and publishers to bring PC content to the service and we’ll ensure the library remains curated and full of great PC titles across a variety of genres, with new games added every month,” said Spencer. Microsoft has stated that many of the games that are included with their Xbox Game Pass will come from publishers such as Bethesda Softworks, Sega, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, and Paradox Interactive. For a monthly fee, subscribers to the Pass will have access to a vast library of over hundred games which they can download and play anytime for as long as they want during their subscription period. Of course the size of the library will keep on increasing as Microsoft has promised that they’ll add new games to list every month.
Subscription to the Pass comes with another perk apart from a vast game library access. Subscribers will get a 20% discount while buying games from Microsoft Store, that are included in the library, and 10% discount on DLCs and other related content.
So far, there’s no word regarding any detail about it’s subscription fee or as to when exactly this Pass will be released for PC. But Microsoft did indeed say that they will be coming up with more details on June 9 at E3 2019.
It seems like all the companies are saving their best bits for E3 2019, as millions of gamers across the world will be tuned in to get information about previously announced titles as well as brand new game announcement from the publishers. As for Microsoft, there are three things which we expect from them – more details about Halo: Master Chief Collection for PC, their new game console, and details regarding the Xbox Game Pass for PC.
