Vikendi- New Snow Map on PUBG Coming Soon

PlayerUnknows’s Battlegrounds’ long-awaited snow themed map named Vikendi was finally revealed in a trailer on Thursday night at The Game Awards.

The trailer begins with a bird walking on a snowy terrain, moving across a dead PUBG character, and accidentally pulling the pin of a hand grenade, causing an explosion and kicking off a series of explosions all across the map. The trailer gives us a hint of what the new map will be like, with entire lands covered with snow, snow-laden trees and frozen lakes and rivers. Dave Curd from the developers department of PUBG Corp. was at the stage to give us further insights on the new map,

We have a lot of players that love the fast rush of the 4×4 Sanhok map, and definitely a large amount our players enjoy the larger, more tactical maps, the 8×8 maps like Miramar and Erengal. So we thought, what if there was a sweet spot 6×6 with loot that’s a little less than Sanhok, a little bit more than Erangel, what would that feel like, who would that serve.

Dave went on to say that the characters would leave tracks in the snow, which will massively change game tactics, and that Vikendi promises at least one new weapon and a snowmobile.

In every map, you’re always going to have these iconic, central locations that really lend themselves to hot-dropping. There’s a certain kind of player, and I’m one of them, who really loves to hot-drop and loves to take on that first fight as soon as possible, getting it out of their system. I find when I drop at the borders of map and play a slow, deliberate game, I’m usually too scared and stressed out when I get into my first firefight.

Dave’s statements would mean a huge contrast in tone, geography and architecture. The setting will be Eastern Europe, with castles and abbeys along with modern buildings, a dinosaur park and a ’60s cosmodrome.

The map Vikendi released for PUBG’s PC test servers and is expected to have the final launch on 19th of December on PC, and for console, some time in January.
