Chinese region was always been very hard to keep a track of. Especially with new teams coming up very often, and under popular banners like VG.R, VG.Potential, CDEC.Youth, CDEC.Q, etc. So its always tough to keep track of the teams and subsequently the inflow of new players from that region. However this does bring a lot of new players into the picture and they often are found in a team with experienced players who have played at the top level.
This season, almost all the top Chinese teams threw the players into the pool to restructure their teams, while some of them reconciled to their old teams, some new teams were formed. Here’s a list of some top teams that we are looking forward to in the coming events after TI6.
Team LGD Forever Young
As mentioned above, organizations in the Chinese region, love to have sub-teams under their banner with creative names like this one. LGD FY is one such team. Under a very famous team LGD, LGD fy is an attempt at a second team with some famous names from that region.
LGD FY consists of Yao,Monet,Xio8,Super,LPC. While LPC and Monet are relatively new players, the rest of the squad is well known in Chinese scene and they have played in the top tier teams. Super finally gets a proper team, He was one of the best midlaners and during his VG days he found some success but after that he has been pretty quiet. Xio8 and Yao finally reunite, this will be the first time since the old LGD.cn days. This squad looks like it has the balance of experienced as well as new players, it will be interesting to see how far they go.
Probably a team which we predicted to stay together and they did. The TI6 winning team decided not to fix what is not broken in the first place. Wings gaming will continue the next dota season with the same team, it will be fun to see what new strats they have in store for us.
Vici Gaming has been one of the biggest organisations in the Chinese region since its inception.VG is also known for its actively changing rosters every season. This season VG brings a solid team with some talented players yet again.
The new VG squad is END, Ghost, Yang, fy and DDC. The support duo of FY and DDC is probably one of most potent duos in China, Their carries shouldn’t fail to deliver. End has shown that is exceptionally talented in TI6, and even though the team dint make it pretty far, End stood out as a very skilled player in the lot.
VG.J seems like a second team under the VG squad but honestly, it is anything but that. The names on the team are pretty well known, and the players have played with the top tier teams.
VG.J consists of Aggresif, Nono, Rotk, hym and Fenrir. While these players are well known, they have never played under the same banner even once and this is one of teams that has to be watched out for.
Going into ti6, Newbee was such a promising team. They were predicted to be atleast in the top 3 in that tournament by many experts/panellists. However they had a disappointing run and Underperformed throughout the entire tournament. So a roster shuffle wasn’t a big surprise.
This newbee squad is uuu9, Sccc, kpii, Faith, Kaka. Previously Tong Fu players uuu9 and Faith gets added to the newbee squad replacing Hao and Chuan. The TI2 champion under team IG, Faith makes his return into the tier 1 scene since then. The strongest point is still their offlaner Kpii, who is probably one of the best offlaners in the world and their star support/ captain Kaka sticking together.
Like VG, LGD is one of the famous organisations in the Chinese region and it is also one of the oldest teams in dota 2. With a series of new teams over the years, LGD brings yet another strong team.
With Maybe being the only surviving member from the previous LGD team, LGD has taken Ame, Victoria and XZ from the CDEC youth team which was pretty successful in the scene. The new LGD team is Maybe, Ame, Jixing, Victoria and Xz.
Ehome had a pretty good run at TI6 considering the expectations that people had from the team. The team decided to part ways with Iceiceice and Fenrir paving way to the addition of Garder and Sylar.
Sylar is also one of the old school first gen players who is going to find a good team and probably make a comeback into the scene. He was once one of the scariest carry players and especially his Gyrocopter was feared by all the teams back then. Ehome also marks the real return of Garder since CDEC’s good run at TI6.
That’s about all the top chinese teams this summer. If you think we have missed out any team just leave a comment below. And stay tuned for the updates on the retired/players taking a break this season from the region. To read more on Dota 2, click here.
