VGJ.Storm, is the North American division of team VGJ. Along with VGJ.Thunder, VGJ.Storm is a sub-organization of Vici Gaming and is owned by the American basketball player, Jeremy Lin. All the 3 teams have qualified for TI this year and I will be covering all of them. I already wrote an article on Vici Gaming’s main squad and VGJ.Thunder. In this article I will be covering VGJ.Storm.
VGJ.Storm’s current Dota 2 roster:
Although VGJ.Storm was considered one of the weaker teams at the middle of the season, they managed to prove themselves in the final few DPC tournaments. They won the GESC: Thailand Dota2 Minor and came second at MDL Changsha Major.
VGJ.Storm qualified for TI8 through the North American Qualifier. They were a dominant force in the qualifier, dropping only a single game in the entire tournament.
About The Squad:
Sumail’s older brother Yawar did not get the limelight like he did right at the beginning of his career even though he is an equally skilled player. He had to play in many different teams in his career. He mostly plays the carry role for VGJ.Storm but he also plays Solo Mid in a few games.
Resolut1on’s career in competitive Dota started to pick up pace when he joined Team Empire in late 2013. He immediately gained recognition and became known as one of the best players in the CIS region. Shockingly, he left Team Empire to join Digital Chaos for TI6. He played a major role Digital Chaos’ run at TI6, carrying them to a second-place finish. Now he is after the first place at TI with VGJ.Storm.
One of the oldest players in the NA scene, Sneyking has played for almost 15 teams in his career. Originally a Solo Mid player, he transitioned into the Offlane role when he joined Void Boys in late 2015. TI8 will be Sneyking’s 3rd TI.
MSS entered competitive Dota after he started playing in many North American in-house leagues and Face-it leagues. He got a chance to play as a substitute player for many NA teams and proved himself as one of the best Position 4 players in NA. When he got a chance to play for EG, he had to run away from his home as his parents did not support his choice of becoming an Esports professional. Soon after, he reunited with his family, after gaining success in the NA scene. MSS is a high impact player, known for his plays on Nyx and Clockwerk.
SVG, the captain of the team, became known as a strong support player after playing in NA teams like Cloud9 and Shazam. He was taken up by EG as a coach for TI6 and TI7 because of his in-depth knowledge of Dota. SVG is the genius behind VGJ.Storm’s recent success. He is one of the best supports in the NA region.
The Wild Card Team:
One of the underdog teams at TI8, VGJ.Storm is also sort of a wild-card team as they clearly proved at MDL Changsha that they can take on the big dogs. I wish them all the best and hope they do good at TI8.
