THE INTERNATIONAL 2018 TEAM INTRODUCTIONS – TEAM SERENITY

Created in September 2017, Team Serenity is a Chinese Professional Dota 2 team owned by weibo.com. This is a brand-new team and it barely has any achievements listed on their record.

Team Serenity’s roster:

Team Serenity actually started out with a completely different roster but every player except XCJ left the team after they had a poor performance in the Perfect World Masters’ China Open Qualifier. XCJ made a completely new team for DAC 2018 qualifier which is their current roster. They won the open qualifier for DAC 2018 but they couldn’t make it through the Chinese regional qualifier.

They went on and participated in qualifiers for many other DPC tournaments like ESL One Birmingham and EPICENTER XL, but they couldn’t qualify for even a single one of those events.

Miraculously, they managed to qualify for TI8 through the China qualifier. They made it through the open qualifiers and dominated teams like IG, LGD.FY and Keen Gaming in the main qualifier. They secured first position in the main qualifier.

About the Squad:

Not much is known about Team Serenity’s roster. Most of the players are so new to the scene that there’s not even a single picture of them on record.

Known to be a strong Carry/Solo Mid player, zhizhizhi is one of the first players from China to reach 9k MMR. He has been in the competitive scene since 2014 but did not get much success. TI8 will be the stage where he can showcase his talent.

Added to Serenity’s roster just 3 months ago, Zyd is Serenity’s Mid laner. He has been in the Chinese Dota 2 scene since 2016 but has barely won any prize money. He played a vital role in Serenity’s run in TI8’s China qualifier.

XinQ is the most experienced player in the team. He started his career in 2014 and has been in many teams’ scout squads. He has played many different roles in his career and currently he is the offlane player for Team Serenity.

The team’s captain Pyw started playing Dota 2 only after TI4 ended. He is already the captain of a team which is competing at TI8. Inspired by Wings Gaming’s TI6 victory, Pyw entered the competitive scene in 2016. He is both the drafter and the shot caller of the team.

XCJ is the longest standing member of Team Serenity. There is barely any information on XCJ as his Dota career was mostly insignificant, until the TI8 qualifiers of course. Along with Zyd, XCJ also played a vital role in Serenity’s TI8 qualifier run.

Team Serenity reminds me of Wings Gaming at TI6. Wings Gaming came out of nowhere and claimed the Aegis in 2016 while many veteran players who were trying for years could not get their hands on it. I can’t wait to see how Serenity performs at TI8.
