Founded in 2011, Invictus Gaming is a Chinese Esports organization. The first iteration of IG won TI2 back in 2012. The team stuck together for another year but later on there have been many roster changes. None of the olayers from the TI winning squad are in IG anymore.
IG’s current roster:
IG was undergoing a lot of roster shuffling during the start of the season. Hence, they did not compete in any of the early DPC tournaments. After finalizing their roster in February 2018, they participated in DAC 2018 and the MDL Changsha Major. They had extremely poor results in both the tournaments and IG ended up having 0 DPC points.
IG qualified for TI8 through the China Qualifier. The qualifier was really brutal for IG. They had to make it through the open qualifier and they almost got eliminated in the group stages of the main qualifier. They barely made it to TI8.
About the squad:
Agressif entered the competitive scene in 2013 with team New Element but his career only started to pick up the pace after he joined CDEC Gaming in 2014. He played an important role in CDEC’s second place run at TI5. He is well known for his skill on heroes like Phantom Lancer and Gyrocopter.
Relatively a newcomer to the scene, Xxs entered the competitive scene in 2015. He was originally an offlaner. Batrider and Sand King are his signature heroes. Xxs transitioned into Position 2 role after Srf joined IG. He is one of the youngest players competing at TI8 (17 years old).
Originally a player from IG.Vitality, Srf was invited into IG after Super and BurNIng left the team. A newcomer to the Dota scene, Srf has only played Asian tournaments and TI8 will be his first international tournament.
The best Position 4 Monkey King player in China, BoBoKa is known to be a very aggressive support player. During the roaming meta, people called him the Chinese Jerax. Among all the members of IG’s current roster, BoBoKa is the one who has stayed the longest (since March 2016). He played a vital role for IG at TI7 where they got 5-6th place.
The captain of the team, Q is also the most experienced player in the team. He’s been in the scene since the Dota 1 days. He is a very good drafter and is known to be a good shot caller. He was Agressif’s captain in CDEC which got second place at TI5.
All things considered, IG mostly consists of newcomers and is definitely an underdog team. They have yet to prove themselves and TI8 will be a good stage for them to know where they stand in the international scene.
