Team Liquid is one of the most well-known organization in the Esports industry. Since its inception in 2000, Team Liquid has acquired many players throughout the world, and they compete in tournaments for many games such as CS: GO, PUBG, Fortnite, FIFA and of course, Dota 2. They ventured into Dota 2 in 2012 and five years later, their latest roster won The International 7 last year.
Team Liquid’s Current Dota 2 Roster:
Since GH officially joined Team Liquid on January 2nd 2018, they have been playing with the same roster and performing very consistently. All the 5 players are extremely versatile and have no trouble playing different roles as they showcased in Moonduck’s Midas Mode event.
Anyone who has been paying attention to the Dota pro scene, knows about KuroKy. KuroKy has been in the scene since back in the Dota 1 days. He holds many records to his name, such as – The first player to reach 1000 wins in his pro career. He is the captain of the team and is known to be very calm, passionate and motivating.
Miracle- as we all know, is Liquid’s star player and the team generally tends to play around him. MATUMBAMAN usually plays bulky, space creating heroes to make room for Miracle- to eventually take over the game. GH, is considered one of the best position 4 players in the world and during the TI 7 era, his Earthshaker, Wisp and Keeper of the Light were highly feared. Every team consistently banned at least two of these heroes when playing against Liquid. Team Liquid’s Offlaner, MinD_ContRoL was deemed the best player by the panel at last year’s TI. His skills as a super-active offlaner were highly commended by everyone. His Nature’s Prophet was rated higher than Admiral Bulldog’s Prophet after he carried his team to victory with the hero in the lower bracket finals against LFY.
The Defending Champions
Unlike other teams in the past, Team Liquid did not get hit by the “TI Winner Curse”. The TI Winner Curse is a term coined by the Dota 2 community – simply put, all the TI winning teams/players become washed up, lose interest and they start underperforming in all the tournaments after TI. The story is completely different for Team Liquid, as they have been consistently performing well in this season. Although they only won the China Dota 2 Supermajor (and three minors) this season, they placed 2nd in the DPC standings. This is because they got many 2nd and 3rd places in the majors.
In the past 7 years, no team has defended their title as the champions of TI. No player has even won a TI twice for that matter. If any team ever had the skill, determination and motivation for doing it, its Team Liquid. They have been playing with the same roster for over a year, getting great results doing so. The players are not just team-mates but good friends too as we have witnessed in the TI 7 True Sight documentary. It would be marked in history if Team Liquid wins this year’s TI and it would be a dream come true for all the fans across the world.
