Announcement
PUBG Season 4 was announced via a trailer which was released a few days ago. Unlike previous trailers of the game, this one took on a more story driven approach. In the year 1965, the narrator who was a child back then, saw his town Erangel destroyed by bomber planes. He somehow managed to survive by taking cover inside a building and watched in horror as other survivors fought each other to death. The narrator, now a grown man, watches CCTV footage from his office as “the place he once called home is now his Battlegrounds.”
PC Update 4.1
Erangel
“PUBG SEASON 4 unveils a stunning new visual update for Erangel and reaches back into the undiscovered history of the infamous island that captured the world’s attention with Battle Royale. Erangel, which has a special home in the hearts of many of us, now features refreshed buildings, upgraded graphics, and some revelations as to the island’s combat-scarred history.” – PUBG Official Website

The most important features of the PUBG Season 4 update is reflected on it’s Erangel map. Erangel was the first ever map of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It has been a part of the game since it’s pre-alpha phase. This new PC Update 4.1 adds an overall graphical enhancement to the map to make it look more realistic. Apart from the visual overhaul, numerous physical assets have been added to the map such as new buildings, revised terrains, trenches and abandoned tanks, etc. This gives the map a new look while still retaining it’s root structure.
As for gameplay in Erangel, the waiting time for Blue Zones have been changed along with changes to it’s speed. The size of the safe zone has also been altered. A brand new addition to the map is the introduction of turntables. Turntables are randomly placed across the map and can be used to play music. Players can use them as a good tactical method to distract enemies.
Survivor Pass 4: Aftermath

The PUBG Season 4 update also comes with the Survivor Pass 4: Aftermath. As stated by the developers, “There are over 100 rewards to unlock by completing a variety of missions and leveling up your pass”. This new Pass comes with several new skins and other ingame items, which provide insight to Erangel’s history. This update, for the first time in PUBG, will allow players to complete missions in cooperative mode with their friends. Players can swap out upto 3 Daily Missions per day, with additional swap outs requiring BP. Survivor Pass owners will have access to more number of missions along with special missions known as “Premium Missions”.
Gameplay
Gun damage in PUBG will undergo quite some changes with this new Season 4 update. Shotguns and SMGs will inflict increased damage, and assault rifles will have reduced damaged. As for vehicles, their health and fuel consumption will go through some alterations. Cars now have auto-acceleration feature and radio. As for the player character, you can now use health items while moving. This will help players a lot since sitting in one place makes them a target. Also, Medkits and Adrenaline Syringes will stack up in your inventory instead of consuming additional space per item.
Other changes include UI improvements, bug fixes, improvements regarding the game’s optimization, changes in matchmaking, and a lot more.
