PVP Esports Championship is a tournament for teams specific to the Asia-Pacific region (India, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia). Launched by Singtel Group, this will be their inaugural tournament and it features games like Dota 2 and Hearthstone. It has a total prize-pool of 300,000 USD. The tournament is starting today at Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore and will conclude on 7th October. I will be focusing on the Dota 2 side of things in this article.
PVP Esports Dota 2:
Three teams viz. PSG.LGD, Team Secret and Fnatic were invited. Five teams secured their spot through qualifiers, and the winner of Indonesia Games Championship 2018 was seeded into this tournament. Our top Indian Dota 2 Squad, Team Signify made it to the tournament through the Indian qualifier.
The tournament has 3 stages. In Stage 1, all the teams except the invited teams were put in a round robin format group stage and the top 3 teams advance to the main stage along with the invited teams.
The winner of the Indonesia Games Championship 2018 tournament, BOOM ID, dominated the group stage, with a stunning 5-0. The Filipino squad, Team Admiral also seemed very strong, losing only to BOOM ID. Team Signify, Team KSY from Thailand and Resurgence from Singapore were tied at 2-3.
Team Signify beat both the teams in the Tie-breaker and advanced themselves to the main stage. This is an incredible achievement for the team and great news for all the Dota 2 enthusiasts in India. They will be facing off against Team Secret and Fnatic on the main stage today. Signify will have to beat atleast one of these two teams to advance into the final playoffs. All the best to Team Signify on behalf of Esportsportal.
