Steep Season 9 | Can you beat the Steep World Tour?

Steep

Usually when we think of sports video games, the first name that comes to our mind is the FIFA franchise. Now if we think further, maybe other names such as PES, Madden NFL, or even the WWE franchise will pop up in our minds. If we broaden our view just a little bit more, we’ll include racing titles into the list too, such as the Need for Speed series, Forza Horizon series, Dirt series, and others. However, if we think of games featuring “extreme sports activities”, then we’ll have to look no further since Ubisoft has already provided us with Steep.

About Steep

Steep was developed by Ubisoft Annecy and published by Ubisoft. It was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on December 6, 2016. While the game was praised for it’s open world design, in-game activities, and graphics, it drew criticism when it comes to overall motive of the game and the fact that most game modes requires the player to stay connected to the internet.

For those of you who don’t know about the game, Steep is an open-world extreme sports game where players can participate in four primary activities – skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuit flying. A DLC which was released later for the game, added several more activities such as base jumping, rocket-powered wingsuit flying, speed riding, and sledding. Even though Steep isn’t officially an MMO, players share the same game world while online, and can compete against each other in various activities that this game has to offer.

Season 9: Odyssey of the Eagle Bearer

On July 30, 2019, the game’s Season 9 went live, which is titled Odyssey of the Eagle Bearer.

“Two worlds will collide during Season 9 to make August an unforgettable experience. From July 30 to September 3, you will live your own personal Odyssey full of special events with a Misthios set for you to win!” – Steep Website

This sounds very familiar, isn’t it? Well, you guessed it right. Steep Season 9 indeed features a crossover with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It will have several Odyssey themed events along with many Odyssey themed rewards for players to win.

Between July 30 to September 3, Steep will have several special in-game events as well as weekly challenges. Completing them will give you a chance to win “Misthios items”. The game will soon reveal a new set of challenges later this month, known as “Medjay Challenges”.

Between August 9 to August 25, Ubisoft will conduct a tournament known as the Steep World Tour. It is an in-game tournament accessible to all Steep players around the world. Players must score as many points as possible by completing various ski and snowboard challenges.

The Qualifiers for this tournament will run from August 9 to August 12. In order to make it to the next phase, players must beat atleast one challenge. Beating more challenges will increase the amount of Steep credits received by the player. Getting through the Qualifiers will reward players with Scarf, Parachute and 5,000 Steep credits along with access to the next phase.

The main Tournament will take place from August 16 to August 19. Only the Top 100 best players will make it to the Finals. All players competing in this phase will get 200 tries to improve their scores and make it to the Top 100. Making it to the Top 100 will reward players with Backpack, Helmet, and 10000 Steep credits. Additionally, they will get the chance to compete with each other in the Finals.

The Finals will take place between August 23 to August 25. This is where the Top 3 winners will be chosen. All players competing in the Finals will get 20 tries to improve their scores and make it to the Top 3. All the Top 3 winners will get a Ski Misthios each. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will also receive 50000, 25000, and 12500 Steep credits, respectively.

As mentioned above, Steep Season 9 has plenty to offer it’s players. If you want to win some really cool Assassin’s Creed Odyssey themed items in Steep, now is the time. And if you think you have what it takes, then be sure to participate in the Steep World Tour.
