Smite vs HotS: In this article, we will be comparing two very popular MOBA games of all time. Both the games are considered very addictive, but they are also considered very rewarding by certain audiences. However, Smite and HotS both offer a different variety of truly enjoyable experiences, and in this article, we will be comparing these 2 games.
Smite is unique in the MOBA genre, as it is the only MOBA game which is played in third person. Smite was developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios.
Smite has some incredible visuals and beautiful looking game environment. It features various Gods from many different Pantheons as playable characters.
Gameplay-wise, Smite is far less complicated than other MOBA games like Dota and HoN. However, since it’s played in third person, it offers a fresh outlook in the MOBA genre which attracts a lot of audience to try the game.
Heroes of the Storm
Heroes of the Storm is simply put, Blizzard’s take on Dota and the MOBA genre. After Valve took in IceFrog and created Dota 2, it is believed that Blizzard noticed their success and wanted to make their own MOBA.
The game features heroes from Blizzard’s franchises including Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, The Lost Vikings, and Overwatch. Characters like Skeleton King which Valve had to replace due to copyright issues, can be found as playable characters in Heroes of the Storm.
Gameplay-wise, Heroes of the Storm adds a lot of fresh new elements into the MOBA genre which was later applied into other MOBA games. However, since HotS joined the MOBA games race very late, it was heavily overwhelmed by the other giant MOBAs in the scene like Dota, LoL and Smite.
Smite vs HotS: Both Smite and HotS are incredible games. I think you should give them both a try. However, personally I would recommend you to play Smite over HotS.
Another important thing to note is that Blizzard decided to shut-down their HotS Esports tournaments – Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm. Hence the Esports scene of HotS is almost non-existent right now. However, the devs promised to keep the game fresh by bringing new updates.
