The Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer promises deeper combat mechanics and better environmental interaction.
Up until now, we had only a few details about Rockstar’s upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. The prequel was commercial and critical success, with some even claiming it to be one of the best games of the era. So it is quite natural that the hype for this game would be huge. The game met with a delay, with the release pushed to 26th October this year. But with the reveal of the Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer today, we can see that Rockstar did make good use of the extra time.
The trailer first introduces us to the vast American frontier which will be featured in the game. The environment spans over mountain trails, dense forests, swamplands and harsh deserts to developing towns and cities.
The trailer explains that as a senior gun in the Van Der Linde gang, Arthur Morgan will also have to manage the gang. At the gang campsites, helping them with the supplies will boost the gang’s morale. Moreover, you can build relationships with your gang members, and you will get to know them over time. Building relationships with them will help them reveal secrets to you, which I am guessing will lead to additional missions.
“Your guns aren’t the only way to interact with the environment”, the narrator goes on to explain. The trailer further goes on to show how conversations can impact the way people and NPCs react to you. You can either get into a fistfight or form friendships with them.
The narrator also says that shooting and fighting have been “radically improved, to keep it deep and engaging at all times”. The weapon mechanics have also improved. Each weapon will have its own characteristics, with realistic reloading and recoil.
Horses are also an important part of Red Dead Redemption 2. All horses have their own special perks. Your bond with your horse will also determine how controllable and tame they are, especially in tough situations. The better the bond, the more is its stamina and speed and easier it is to calm it. The horses will also be able to carry extra guns and equipment.
As the Red Dead Redemption2 gameplay trailer reveals, you will also be able to hunt animals. This will help the camp or can earn you some money if you decide to sell the pelts.
The trailer ends by informing us that there’s still more to come.
