The new ranked season for Dota 2 is here. Approximately 6 months after the first MMR reset, Valve stood on their word and brought the MMR reset in a timely manner. Every player has to play 10 ranked games to calibrate their new MMR and get their new medal. This time around, there’s a few changes compared to the previous ranking system. Valve claims that the 10 calibration games will matter a lot and can drastically increase or decrease your rank depending on the performance in the games. Previously, the calibration matches didn’t matter as much because most of the players ended up getting the same MMR that they had before except for the players at extremely high rank. Your previous rank will also matter in where you will end up after the calibration.
Valve also added a new system which allows players to track their progress towards the next medal or star which is only visible for themselves. Also, they decreased the number of steps between ranks from 0 – 5 to 1 – 5. This season, player profiles will also show their previous season’s medal along with their new medal. Valve also introduced a new tier of ranked medal called the Immortal which is above the Divine medal. This medal is only given to the players that manage to make it to the leaderboards. In the new ranked season, the leaderboards will only have 1000 players in each region. The Immortal medal will not have any stars and will only display the leaderboard rank.
Here’s the top 10 ranked players from the Americas, Europe, SEA and China region this season.
