The original Minecraft is a sandbox game which was released in 2011. It was released by a Swedish developer, Markus Persson and released by Mojang which is currently a subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios based in Stockholm. Minecraft is the single best-selling video game of all time, selling over 180 million copies across all platforms by late 2019. Minecraft: Pocket Edition was first released for the Xperia Play on the Android Market as an early alpha version on 16 August 2011. After a lot of testing in the alpha and beta stages, the full version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition was released on iOS, Android and Windows Phone on 19 December 2016. Minecraft is a Sandbox game which has no specific goals that a player can look to accomplish. However, there is an achievements system, which is basically a way to gradually guide new players into Minecraft and give them challenges to complete. It is a 3D game and the gameplay is in first-person perspective by default. Players have an option for third-person perspective. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects—mainly cubes and fluids, and commonly called “blocks”—representing various materials, such as dirt, stone, ores, tree trunks, water, and lava. The entirety of the game revolves around picking up and placing these objects to build structures and other things.
