Just a few minutes ago, Team Liquid made a post on twitter with some really sad news for the fans. MATUMBAMAN has been moved out of Team Liquid’s Dota 2 roster. Don’t worry though, as Matu will not be leaving Team Liquid. He is just not a part of Team Liquid’s Dota 2 roster anymore. Maybe he’ll replace rmN- as the next coach? Maybe he’ll be managing the team? Who knows?

For those who don’t know who Matu is – Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen is a Finnish player who has been playing Carry/Mid for Team Liquid’s Dota 2 roster for 3 years, 8 months now. His BroodMother and Lycan are very famous, and many other players look up to him for his skills on those heroes. He is also known to play many ‘cancerous/toxic’ heroes like Necrophos and Viper. His skill level on Lone Druid is so high that many compare it with AdmiralBulldog’s Lone Druid.
MATUMBAMAN’s most prestigious achievement was winning The International 7 with Team Liquid. He has also won many other huge tournaments with Team Liquid, like The China Dota 2 Supermajor and EPICENTER 2017. One could say that the only real achievement Matu didn’t accomplish is winning two TIs, which has never been done by anyone before.
Who replaced MATUMBAMAN in Team Liquid?
We have yet to know who joined Team Liquid as Matu’s replacement. This is what Team Liquid has officially mentioned:
With MATU’s move to our bench, we will be attending the Epicenter Major with a new player, who will be announced closer to the event. KuroKy, Miracle-, MinD_ContRoL, GH, and our coach rmN- are all training hard for the Major in Moscow, and as always we intend to be in the best possible position to win the event. Expect more details regarding our new player in the coming days.
Whoever’s replacing Matu has a very difficult task at hand. He’ll have to prove himself worthy to the fans, since replacing a TI Winner is no ordinary feat.
