So after an amazing International, it was finally time for the most important shuffle period of a competitive Dota season. And just like every post-TI shuffle, this one was also full of surprises. Here are the major teams that had their rosters changed:
1. Evil Geniuses
This squad of talented and veteran Dota professionals gave the fans the most surprising roster of the shuffle. This year we saw Fear finally retiring from professional Dota, thus ending his stint at Evil Geniuses. Fans were sad to see Captain America retire but rejoiced knowing that Fear had finally achieved what he wanted from his professional career. We are yet to know what Fear is going to do next but best of luck to him. Following Fear was none other than PPD himself. The brain of the Evil Geniuses squad also retired from Professional Dota as he was given a better opportunity in Twitch. The captain who took the SADBOYS and late Evil Geniuses to height at which the team is now said that he was still a sub for the team. To replace the veterans, Evil Geniuses hired their long time shuttle player Arteezy. At this point I think we can say that “Arteezy has been to Secret and back and back to Secret and back”. This 9k prodigy once again came back to play for the American powerhouse after Team Secret had a really bad showing at this year’s TI. The other addition to squad was none other than OG’s play maker Cr1t. After the favourites bombed out at TI it was sure that the Boys in Green were no longer going to be together. Cr1t joined the Evil Geniuses squad as Captain and it seems like a tough road to follow the footsteps of PPD but lets wait and see how this young talent fills in the shoes. As for the remaining roster, Evil Geniuses retained their three former players namely Suma1l, Universe and Zai. This roster has a great potential but also has the potential to bomb out miserably as we have seen time and time again that best players may not guarantee success. The roster will make its debut at MDL on 28th September.
2. Complexity Gaming
Complexity Gaming also changed their roster keeping only the Freedman brothers. After lack lustrous performance in TI Wild Cards it was sure that the days of the former Complexity roster were limited. As a team which always preferred Friendship over having the best players, the team was unable to remain together. As Limmp and Handsken moved to Alliance hoping for better future and Cheesie taking break from professional Dota sighting health issue, the Red Team brought in some some new blood into the scene. Joining them will be Moo from Digital Chaos playing at position 3 which has prompted Swindlezz to move to position 5. The squad flew in canceL^^ from Romania to be their Mid Player and has hired Justin, an unknown North American player to play at position 1. We have already seen how much new successful new players can be and as a team which is known to surprise everyone with their results we are eagerly waiting for when this North American Squad makes their debut.
3. Digital Chaos
The guys in Purple and Yellow were the major surprise for everyone that was following the TI-6. A team which wasn’t having great results up until TI surprised everyone by coming 2nd in the tournament by defeating powerhouses like Ehome, Fnatic and EG.
The team retained most of their roster and only replaced Moo for MoonMeander from OG sighting a change in playstyle might be good for them. Moon who is known for his aggressive play style can be good addition to the squad which lacked a good initiator.
4. Team NP
This squad of fairly unknown players (as stated by EternalEnvy) is the squad assembled by none other than the crowd favourite EternalEnvy. EE-sama brought in some old and some very old players together to form a team of veteran in hope of bringing in the glory riding on the shoulders of huge amount of experience. The squad consists of NA dota veterans namely Aui_2k, MSS, SVG, 1437 and EE himself. The players combine have a lot of Professional Dota experience with 3 having coaching experience for various teams. The squad looks good and has had good showings in their recent showings but we have to wait until they are pinned against the giants to see what they are truly made of.
