Arguably one of the best games ever made, Dota 2 has taken the gaming world by storm ever since its inception. Not only is it a game that has captured the minds and hearts of gamers around the world, but it has already played its part in the rapid rise of esports by enticing some of its huge audience into another area of the game – in a more competitive setting under the lights and with some of the best players in the world battling it out.
Esports is massive now and it is only going to get bigger, especially judging by its impressive growth in recent years. Of course gaming away from a competitive arena will always have its appeal too, with many of us enjoying a simple game of solitaire on the train or sitting down to play a game of the Crazy 7 slot every now and again, but there are also a huge amount of young aspiring gamers who strive to join the esports movement and play Dota 2 professionally.
Countless high quality, amazing Dota 2 teams have shone over the years, so we thought we’d give all you amateur gamers out there some hope and inspiration by going through a few of the very best Dota 2 teams we’ve ever seen. One thing is for sure though, the list is only going to get bigger and bigger, and will continually change, but here’s a look at some of the very best from the recent past.
TNC
One of the best – if not the best – Dota 2 team’s in the Asian country of the Philippines, TNC has had incredible success in the competitive esports scene. They’ve won countless championships – knocking out some big names and causing a number of notable shocks in the process – and despite being labeled as an underdog heading into many competitions, they’ve come out on top many times. Consisting of Filipino players only, they’re a dangerous proposition, with their captain Kuku arguably their standout performer.
Team Liquid
Team Liquid had to make the list, didn’t they? The first team to sweep a TI championship event with a 3-0 win, Team Liquid well and truly announced their arrival in style with that particular win, never letting a Newbee win a single game during that time. Miracle was seen as their best player but the rest of the team proved their worth and reigned supreme. Since then, Team Liquid has gone on to establish itself as a real powerhouse and a dangerous proposition heading into any competition.
OG
Winner of The International Dota 2 Tournament in 2018, OG has been a consistent contender over the years, with Notail cementing himself in the history books as a truly loyal player to the team and an incredibly talented and smart player in the league too. One of their biggest success stories was their victory in the Aegis of Immortal, with their recruitment of inexperienced pub player Topson proving to be a really shrewd move as he ended up performing well and proving himself to be an exceptional player.
Evil Geniuses
With golden boy Sumail in their ranks, Evil Geniuses went on to earn themselves the title as one of the best ever Dota 2 teams seen. A former Ti Champion, the team is known for their excellent communication and teamwork skills which have aided them massively when competing against other sides who perhaps lack in that particular area. Recording countless victories and impressive displays, Evil Geniuses are well worth a mention.
