Everything You Need To Know About The New Overwatch Hero: Brigitte

Overwatch’s latest addition to the hero roster is Brigitte Lindholm, the travelling companion and squire of Reinhardt.

Brigitte is the first of Torbjörn’s daughter’s who showed interest in mechanical engineering. She spent most of her spare time in her father’s workshop learning the tools of trade and sharpening her skills. Torbjörn was famous for his weapons and his daughter had an interest in armor fabrication and defensive systems. While everyone expected her to follow in her father’s footsteps, her plans took a turn thanks to the influence of her father’s close friend and another prominent figure in her life, Reinhardt Winhelm. As a close friend of the family and Brigitte’s godfather, Reinhardt told her tales of knights and heroes as she grew up, inspiring her throughout her childhood.

Our latest hero then decided to join Reinhardt as his squire to help him in his quest of justice. As a squire, Brigitte had a lot of responsibilities, one of which was to look after Reinhardt and his armor and in this journey, she decided to become a warrior herself. While Reinhardt trained her in combat, she began to build her own suit of armor in secret. She made her first appearance in a comic called Dragon Slash and was later seen in one of the Animated Shorts called ‘Honor and Glory’ which revolved around Reinhardt’s origin story.

Brigitte Lindhom’s Abilities

• Rocket Flail – Brigitte’s melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing.
• Repair Pack – Brigitte throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead.
• Whip Shot – Brigitte throws her flail a long distance, dealing damage and knocking an enemy away from her.
• Barrier Shield – Brigitte deploys a frontal energy barrier to absorb a limited amount of damage.
• Shield Bash – Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, Brigitte can dash forward to stun an enemy.
• Inspire – When Brigitte hits enemies with her flail, she also heals nearby allies over time.
• Rally – Brigitte moves faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage.

Brigitte is the first hero to come to Overwatch in 2018; marking her as the 27th edition to the roster after Moira. It will be interesting to see how she racks up against the likes of other support characters such as Mercy, Ana, Lucio etc. Just like any other hero introduced before, Brigitte can be tested in PTR (Public Test Region) and will be available in the main game soon.
