Epic has sued two YouTubers for cheating in Fortnite

Epic claims that Golden Modz and Excentric have been cheating in Fortnite

Epic has always taken a hard stance against cheating. In the most recent incident, Epic has sued two YouTubers, Golden Modz for cheating in Fortnite. Golden Modz has over 1.7 million subscribers on YouTube.

The case was filed in a North Carolina Federal Court, where Golden Modz was accused of copyright infringement along with Excentric. In the complained filed by Epic, which was acquired by TorrentFreak, they say, “This is a copyright infringement, breach of contract, and tortious interference case in which the Defendants are infringing Epic’s copyrights by injecting unauthorized cheat software (‘cheats’ or ‘hacks’) into the copyright protected code of Epic’s popular video game Fortnite.”

Golden Modz has used cheats several times. In a video, he has teamed up with Excentric, where they refer to the cheats as “magical powers”. The video in question has been removed, after Epic copy-striked the video from YouTube.

Golden Modz has also been accused of selling cheats online.

“Lucas is operating these websites and selling these cheats and accounts for his own personal enrichment. He posts videos of people using the cheats for the same reason. His ill-gotten gains come at the expense of Epic and members of the Fortnite community”, Epic said. They have also pointed out several videos in their complaint where they point out the hacks and cheats being used by the YouTubers. Epic wants to be compensated for their losses. They further state, “Defendants should be permanently enjoined from continuing to engage in the conduct complained of herein, their profits should be disgorged, and they should be ordered to pay Epic’s damages, attorneys’ fees, and costs related to this action.”

When it comes to cheating, Epic isn’t pulling any punches. They had earlier even sued a 14 year old Fortnite player for using cheats in the game on the same grounds.
