Bethesda has had a pretty bad year with their flagship MMO Fallout 76 drowning harder than Titanic in the box office. While Bethesda is trying really hard to save their dying IP, another MMO title published by them is making steady progress regardless.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has had its fair share of ups and downs across its development and post-release life. Since its launch back in 2014, the title has gone through a significant upgrade with the biggest being the removal of paid subscription based game access. The critically acclaimed Morrowind and Summerset expansions have brought important content improvements and smaller DLCs have expanded the game to a whole new level.

Recently, a few dataminers found some interesting new pictures of newer content. Further investigation shows the new expansion to be set in Elsweyr, the homeland of the Khajit. Shortly following this datamine, the official ESO twitter page twitted “Cat’s out of the bag! 🐈🐉💀”, officially confirming the findings. The emojis of the tweet also confirm the existence of dragons and the rumored Necromancer class.
An official post appeared almost immediately on the game’s website, informing players about a special livestream on Twitch this 15th of January. With Creative Director Rich Lambert helming the stream, it’ll give everyone an idea of what’s to come in ESO in 2019. Viewers watching the livestream will be rewarded with Twitch drops. As the stream reaches a set amount of concurrent viewers, the entire community will unlock special rewards for themselves, one of which includes Rich getting a tattoo on his body. A pre-stream and a post-stream segment with members of the development team is also confirmed to take place.
Rumors of the expansion being an entire year-long content plan with dragons thrown in the middle are already making the reddit circles. This also adds up with the “The Season of the Dragon” announcement. Whether that actually comes true or not remains to be seen.
