EG win The Summit 9 finals

Evil Geniuses faced off against Fnatic in the Summit 9 Grand Finals

The Summit 9 came to a conclusion yesterday, and Evil Geniuses were crowned winners. They faced off against Fnatic,, who made their way through the lower bracket to reach the finals. The SEA team defeated VG.J Storm to have a shot at the title.
Contrary to expectations, the tournament was swept away by EG with the perfect score 0f 3-0. In the first game, Fnatic had a good start pre 10 minutes. It was all mostly downhill for them thereon, up to the third game. The first game extended up to 52 minutes, but it was of no use since EG had already taken all of their lanes at the 35 minute mark. A glimmer of hope came when they got the third Roshan, but EG put up a strong high ground defence. After that, even Eternal Enny’s fully farmed Medusa could not help Fnatic secure a win.

The second and third games were all EG’s. The American team shut down Fnatic’s cores and supports. In the second game, Universe’s brew master was completely shut down by EG. Pieliedie’s ogre had a really rough time; he got his first item, the boots around the 20 minute mark. Sumail’s Storm Spirit completely dominated the mid lane, even though Abed’s Queen of Pain had help from Ogre Magi. The game ended before the 30 minute mark, with EG steam rolling Fnatic 28-8.

The third game was also the same story, but this time Eternal Envy had really, really rough time. His decision to pick Ember Spirit in the safe lane was a questionable one. By the time the match was over at 40 minutes, he was second last in terms of net worth, with only 7k gold.

Even though this wasn’t a Major (or Minor for that matter), The Summit 9 was a good practice for the teams before heading to TI8.

Yesterday EG showed that they have been working hard and their lineup is falling into place. But on the other hand, it showed how ill equipped Fnatic is to deal with the Boys in Blue. The teams are definitely gonna use what they learned from this tournament in the TI8.
