Dota Underlords is a free-to-play Strategy/Auto-Battler video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. Dota Underlords is based on the most popular community mod for Dota 2, Dota Auto Chess. Dota Auto Chess was released in January 2019. It quickly became one of the most played PC games of early 2019. Dota Underlords was released in early access on June 20, 2019 for Android, iOS, macOS, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. One of the most amazing features of Dota Underlords is Cross-platform play. As mentioned before, Dota Underlords is an auto battler. A type of chess-like competitive multiplayer strategy video game, where players place characters known as “heroes” on an 8×8 grid-shaped battlefield during a preparation phase.
After a time-period, a team’s heroes fight the opposing team without any further direct input from the player. All units are controlled by AI. A match features up to eight players online who battle against each other in a one-on-one format, with the winner being the final player standing after eliminating all of the opposing players. There are 3 main resources in Dota Underlords:
1. Gold: Gold is the primary currency of the game which can be used to buy units every round. Players get Gold after each round depending on 3 factors. The first factor is whether you won the battle against your opponent. If you win you get 1 gold, else you get 0 gold. The second factor is whether you are on a win-streak or a lose-streak. If you are on a streak, you can get up to 3 extra Gold per round. The third factor is how much gold you have saved up. You can get up to 5 gold as interest.
2. Experience: Players require experience points to level up. Your level determines how many units you can put on the board. It also determines the % chance of getting different tiers of units on your selection panel each round.
3. HP (Health Points): Health is technically the most important resource in Dota Underlords. You start with 100 HP and you lose HP if you lose a round. The amount of HP you lose after a defeat depends on how many of the opponent’s units survived on your board. If you lose all your HP, you get eliminated.
