Dota 2 vs Arena of Valor: In this article, we will be comparing two very popular MOBA games in recent times. However, keep in mind that Dota 2 is a PC game, and Arena of Valor is a mobile game. But is one game better than the other at core gameplay? Let’s find out.
Dota is known for bringing popularity to the MOBA genre. It was the first game that got global attention for being a very competitive online game at the time of its inception.
After Valve took in IceFrog and created Dota 2, the popularity of ‘Dota’ as a concept drastically increased. Valve hosted a million-dollar tournament titled “The International” which brought in the best teams from around the world to compete for against each other in a LAN. This was the biggest tournament at the time, and brought in a lot of attention to the game
About the gameplay however, Dota is a very competitive and punishing game. Specially for the new-comers. It is a very complex game and has a very steep learning curve. However, the game is very rewarding after you play for a certain amount of time, and get to understand the game.
Arena of Valor
Arena of Valor is the international adaptation of ‘Wangzhe Rongyao’, an extremely popular Chinese mobile game. Both the games were developed by Tencent.
Arena of Valor was released in 2016 in Taiwan. Its popularity grew massively each passing day. Tencent slowly started releasing the game in different countries and now its playable all over the World. Arena of Valor is also available on Nintendo Switch now.
Arena of Valor is called the ‘kingpin of pocket gaming’ in the mobile gaming market, and has amassed over 200 million players.
Dota 2 vs Arena of Valor: As you must have guessed, these games are very similar to each other. However, Dota 2 is a PC game, while Arena of Valor is a mobile game.
Hence, gameplay-wise these two titles are quite a bit different, as they have their own flavor. It’s quite clear that both these games are quite good and entertaining, so the only question is: Do you prefer playing on your computer or your mobile.
If you prefer playing on PC, go for Dota 2. If you are a mobile gamer, go for Arena of Valor. I personally prefer Dota 2 because I’m a PC gamer.
