The first game in the series was simply called Counter-Strike. Originally, Counter-Strike was a mod for Half-Life. However, Valve acquired the mod in 2000. Later, two other games were released, titled Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Source. These games received incredible success in the FPS genre and thus became one of the pillars in the Esports scene. Here’s another CS:GO Wallpaper HD image.

In CS:GO, two opposing teams, the Terrorists and the Counter Terrorists, compete in different game modes to complete objectives, such as securing a location to plant or defusing a bomb. There is another mode where the players try have to rescue or guard hostages. At the end of each round, players are rewarded based on their individual performance with in-game currency to spend on more powerful weapons in subsequent rounds. Completing objectives such as killing enemy players or defusing a bomb gives cash bonuses. Uncooperative actions, such as killing teammates, results in a penalty. Valve provide a matchmaking system which supports all online game modes. This is managed through the Steam software. These matches run Valve Anti-Cheat to prevent cheating. When playing the Competitive mode, each player has a specific rank based on their skill level and is paired up with other players around the same ranking. One form of matchmaking in Global Offensive to prevent cheating, Prime Matchmaking, hosts matches that can only be played with other users with the “Prime” feature.
