Danger Zone, the battle royale mode of Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) gets an all new update today and this one comes with a lot of useful perks. As announced by Valve, the update adds a new map to the mode, brings in several items that will come in handy during gameplay, and introduces an Apex Legends style Respawn System along with the ability to Ping enemies, items, and locations.
Let’s breakdown the whole update and talk about it in brief detail.
The biggest feature in this update is the addition of a new map, named Sirocco, to the Danger Zone mode. The map, Sirocco, is basically an island with sandbanks, an abandoned town, a helipad, an old ruined castle, and has underground passageways which players can use to bypass enemies. The map has two tower-like structures which kind of look like a lighthouse and a radio installation structure respectively.
Another notable update to the mode is the ability to Respawn. As long as your squad is alive, you’ll have another fighting chance. As stated by Valve, you can “pick up where you left off, or take a new angle.” Similar to Apex Legends, players can now Ping enemies, items, and locations. Pinging is crucial when playing as a team since it’s a lot easier to head towards something with a visible marker on it. Players now have a Radial weapon selection menu which makes it easier to view all the weapons you have in your arsenal, and select them based on your needs and preferences.
Weapons picked up in the map now come with way more ammo than they used to. This means players can now rest a little easier and as stated by Valve, “spend less time scavenging and more time hunting.” Your tablet will now reveal the nearest large weapon crate with pinpoint precision. If you think you have what it takes, you can head straight towards the crate, finish anyone that stands in your way, and loot the crate all to yourself. As we know, the map in CS: GO Danger Zone is virtually divided into hexagons. Players will now get an additional cash bonus for each hexagon they explore over the course of the match. This means they simply need to traverse the map as much as possible to gather up cash and purchase the items that they want. That’s not all. You will also get an additional cash bonus for each bomb wave over the course of the match. Of course that implies you need to avoid the bombing runs and wait it out for the extra dough in your pocket.
The update also comes with some really useful items that players can use to their advantage during the match.
It introduces the “ExoJump Boots” which, as stated by Valve, can be used to “access hard to reach areas, leap over walls, and dart across the map at incredible speed.” The update also adds a “Drone Pilot”, a remote control drone that can be used to scout enemy locations from a distance, as well as pick up and drop supplies without risking your own life. The update introduces “Bump Mines”, an anti-gravity mine which can send your enemies, your teammates, as well as you flying up in the air. If one doesn’t have a parachute equipped, they will most probably be dead upon impact with the ground. Another major addition to the players’ arsenal, that comes with the CS:GO Danger Zone update, is the “Ballistic Shield”. This shield can be deployed to protect yourself and your teammates from oncoming fire. You cannot shoot with the shield deployed but it surely is useful for protection.
This CS:GO Danger Zone update is surely one of the most notable ones that Valve provided us with, as it adds several useful features to the mode along with a brand new map. With similar features that we have already seen in Apex Legends, this update will surely draw in lot of players since CS: GO is one of the most played games in the world and since it is free, there is no reason not to try it out, especially it’s Danger Zone mode.
