Cobx and PGL will work together to produce “international gaming events” in India.
The eSports scene in India is still in its initial stages. Yet the scene is growing, and it has a lot of potential. India will have an average age of 29 by the year 2020 and will be the youngest country in the world. Which is perfect for the video gaming scene, as it mostly caters to the young audience. Furthermore, by 2020, the eSports industry is projected to be worth $1.2 billion. Keeping this in mind, the very well known eSports company PGL has partnered up with Cobx in India.

“The brands will be working together towards the joint production and execution of the international events to be organised by Cobx Gaming”, they said in the official press release. ”This marks the entry of India on the global esports map and the inclusion in the list of global esports venues.”
Rajdip Gupta, founder of Cobx gaming said, “We are excited to be working together and aim towards combining our efforts in realising events, to bring forth quality esports that deserves to be seen and experienced in all its greatness and intensity.”
Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL added, “PGL’s reputation hinges on its commitment to bring fans around the world the best esports content. We know how passionate the Indian fanbase is and we aim to write our own page in the esports story of this part of the world. We can only hope we will live up the expectations that our partners at Cobx and the Indian community has for us.”
What this means for the esports scene in India.
This is huge news for the whole esports scene in India. Currently, there are very few major international esports companies in India, with only ESL India holding high profile events. Coming of PGL will definitely make the market more competitive which can be a good thing. I hope we get to see Majors and Minors in India in the near future. For now, Cobx hasn’t revealed their future plans with PGL.
