Call of Duty Black Ops’ Beta made quite an impression on us. The game was amazing and we did not encounter any bugs. Just this weekend, Treyarch made available the Call of Duty Blackout Beta. Did it do as well as the original beta? Well, it’s not that polished (still more polished than PUBG), but it’s much more fun.
Graphics and performance:
The game’s graphics were lagging. Even after switching anti-aliasing on, the edges were all jagged and the colours on the map seemed a bit unnatural. The objects and trees render late. The game also crashed one time in the four hours I played. But other than that, with medium high settings I was getting more than decent 90 fps on my PC with 1050ti, 8GB RAM and i3 7th gen.
The problems mentioned above can easily be fixed. And since this is a Beta, there is a good chance it will be fixed.
The game really shines in the gameplay. Treyarch have introduced a lot of new stuff, and Blackout is actually fun. First off, you can pilot a helicopter. Even though it doesn’t have weapons, it’s still fun.
Blackout even has perks. You can get them like droppable items. Some reduce the damage outside of the circle, while others might increase your movement and reload speed or make enemy footsteps louder.
Gadgets can also be found on the map. You can grab the Grapple Gun for increased mobility, or an RC Car for recon, or a portable barrier.
One of the things I liked about the game is that unlike PUBG and fortnite, where action starts late, that isn’t the case with Blackout. You can find awesome weapons almost everywhere. So as soon as you touch the ground, the bullets start flying. To keep the action amped up, even healing is a lot faster than the two leading Battle Royale games. It takes about 1 second to heal yourself with a first aid and 3 seconds with a Trauma kit which boosts your health to 200. Sometimes, you might also find weapons with attachments already there. All this fast paced action does mean that the game ends rather quickly, in around 20-30 minutes
So should Fortnite and PUBG be worried about it? Well, PUBG, definitely. Even in the Beta, Blackout is more polished than PUBG. The game is much more fun and has a lot better weapons and gameplay.
Fortnite, not so much. Fortnite has already reached a cult status, and the building mechanic is still unique to the game, along with its story telling. But Epic should be a little bit worried.
- Amazing Gameplay
- Never a dull moment
- The diversity in guns and equipment
- Subpar graphics
- Bad object rendering
- Long wait time
- The beta shows that Blackout has a lot of potential 0
