The 2018 International Battle Pass is finally here and it is absolutely massive. It includes many new game modes, new in-game spray emotes, the return of voice lines in the chat wheel, loads of immortal treasures and much more, so let’s get right into it. I will only be covering the biggest features that came with the Battle Pass. For complete details, check out Valve’s post on their Dota 2 website.
The Underhollow is a new, yet to be released game mode which is described as a “multi-team dungeon clash”. Apparently, it is going to be a Battle Royale type game mode with a lot of dungeon crawl genre elements in it. Considering how popular the Battle Royale games like PUBG and Fortnite are right now, it seems like Valve wants to tribute those games with this new game mode. It looks really interesting and I cannot wait to play it.
Another new game mode called Mutation Mode was introduced with the battlepass. It is an unranked game mode which is just like a normal dota 2 match but with a lot of randomized modifiers which change every day. Every match will have three mutations enabled. These modifiers can be anything like quad-damage runes, random neutral creeps spawning as lane creeps, ability to resurrect team mates and much more.
Introduction of Spray Emotes:
The 2018 International Battle Pass brought spray emotes as a new feature into the game. As you level up, you unlock these spray emotes which can be used via the chatwheel. This time around, Valve also added a secondary chat wheel so that we can fit in the new Spray Emotes and the Seasonal Chat Wheel Sounds alongside our usual chat wheel options.
Seasonal Chat Wheel Sounds:
The seasonal chat wheel sounds were a huge success in the last year’s International Battle Pass and everyone was really disappointed when the Battle Pass duration ended and they couldn’t use the amazing voice lines anymore. But now they’re back again and Valve included many brand new voice lines for the pass-holders to use, in addition to last year’s voice lines.
New Team Challenge Tokens:
This is a completely new feature where a 5-man party can spend 1 token to queue in a special matchmaking mode which will put you up against much stronger teams in terms of MMR. This is a great way to take up a challenge if you are feeling extra-competitive.
The 2018 International Battle Pass brought this special matchmaking queue for pass-holders where they can select their lane preference before they even join a game. You will be put in a game where every role is pre-selected and you will be shown which player is playing which role for that match in the pre-game phase.
The 2018 Immortal Items:
Like always, The Battle Pass includes the much awaited Immortal Treasures with brand new, incredibly beautiful immortal items. Each treasure contains one immortal and a chance to get a bonus rare, very rare or an ultra rare item. There are three different types of treasures and only Treasure I has been released as of now. Treasure II and III will be released as the season progresses. Each of these different treasures include 9 different immortal items and the cosmically rare “Emblem Of The Crystal Echelon” effect.

This time around, the Battle Pass offers 12 new taunts that can be unlocked by levelling up. You’ll need to reach level 563 to unlock all the taunts.
Promise Of Eminant Revival Legacy Bundle:
At level 615, Pass-holders get a legacy bundle which includes 5 items from the previous Battle Pass immortal treasures with a new design. Moreover, these items will have extra unlockable styles.
Dota Plus Rewards:
As a bonus for having a Dota Plus subscription, pass-holders get 5000 extra Battle Points and Shards every 100 levels from level 100 to level 1000.
Collector’s Aegis and Baby Roshan:
Pass-holders who make it to level 1000 will receive a special glow effect for the in-game fountain Aegis, and an exclusive 1/5th-scale alloy replica of the Aegis of champions 2018. At level 2000, the pass-holders get a replacement for Roshan’s in-game model and the 2018 Collector’s Baby Roshan.
The Prize Pool for TI8 and the Community Goal:
25% of all Battle Pass sales go directly to The International 2018 prize pool and Valve is giving us two prize pool goals this year. If we successfully clear these goals as a community, all of us will get rewards. If the total prize pool surpasses last year’s mark of $24,787,916, every Battle Pass owner will receive 10,000 bonus Battle Points. And the secondary goal is to surpass $30,000,000 which will give the pass-holders 10,000 Battle Points more.
TI Prize Pool boost after 1 Hour:
– TI8: ~ $500K
– TI7: ~ $94K
– TI6: ~ $97K
– TI5: ~ $99K

The prize pool hit $500K, just 1 hour after the Battle Pass was released which is around 5 times as much as last year. Currently, the prize pool is at $6,280,488 and I believe that we, as a community can make it to $30 Million easily. I am hoping that we can even surpass $35 Million which would be absolutely incredible.
I recommend everyone to buy the 2018 International Battle Pass and show your love towards this amazing game, the wonderful community and the professional players who work day and night to compete in this awesome tournament.
