The Dota Auto Chess Developers, Drodo Studio has collaborated with a Chinese mobile games publisher Dragonest, and announced a mobile version of their game today. The mobile version of Auto Chess will not have a Dota background, but it will preserve the same game mechanics.
Dota Auto Chess became a phenomenon soon after its release, and currently it holds the record for the highest number of in-game subscriptions and concurrent players for any Dota 2 mod. At the time of writing this article, Dota Auto Chess has over 6.1 Million subscriptions, around 200,000 concurrent players, and 2.9 Million 5-star rating reviews. There were a few other Dota 2 mods that received a lot of popularity, like Hardcore Ninja and GemTD, but none of them got the kind of attraction that Auto Chess did.
Pre launch registration
You can register for the mobile version of Auto Chess on their launch site. According to the page, around 300,000 registrations have already been made. You can also link your steam account to receive rewards. Players who have subscribed to Dota Auto Chess in-game will be receiving candies depending on the amount of time they spent playing the game, and the amount of candies that they have purchased previously. According to the site, candies can also be purchased directly on the mobile version at the rate of 1RMB for 10 candies.
As seen on the website, Auto Chess will be letting go of the Dota 2 hero models and will be coming up with a completely new roster. This way, Drodo Studio will be able to fully own the game as intellectual property.
Along with the announcement of the mobile game, Drodo Studio has announced that they will be hosting a $1.5 Million tournament, in collaboration with Imba TV and Long Mobile Limited. They also gave an assurance to all the fans from outside China – “no matter where you are from, you can compete with players from all over the world.” – From the launch Page.
