AngeryGaming started out in early 2017 as a small gaming community. Since then, they have come a long road and have become one of the top streaming teams in India. They have a great story behind them. We interviewed AngeryGaming’s Founder Prithvi Rathod and also Rohan Pandav, Co-Founder of AngeryGaming. They shared their story, struggles, long term plans and a great message to the gaming community!
How did you start AngeryGaming? What’s the story behind it?
So, AngeryGaming started as a group of friends who loved to play together, we started this thing on the 1st Jan 2017 and ever since then we’ve stuck together. But after a few months of our establishment we decided to go ahead and make this thing better and do something for this community rather than just fooling around. Hence we got into the streaming as all of us had love and passion for streaming and gaming, we kept growing ever since then.
We started off on YouTube but it did not suit us. Hence in 2018 we shifted to Twitch and it has worked quite well for us under the guidance of Ankit Jayant, Mohit Rajgaria and Akshay
I see. That’s a great story. How did you get into Gaming? Which incident that made you really passionate about it?
Prithvi Rathod’s story
Gaming for me started with my elder brother taking me to a gaming cafe close to our house to play Counter Strike 1.6 with all our colony friends. And since then I was stuck to gaming. Then when I started going there way too often my mother bought me a potato pc and all I played was Counter Strike 1.6 and GTA 3, then years later I got introduced to CSGO which helped me meet a lot of people including Rohan Pandav (Co-Founder of Angery Gaming)
That’s great. Even kennyS had a similar story. What about you, Rohan?
Rohan Pandav’s story
I started playing games at the age of 2 or maybe 3. I have played CSGO for more than 4k hours. So, when I was in school, I got introduced to Twitch and some COD streamers. I watched their streams and they were damn good. They were good at the game and they never failed to entertain. I prioritized gaming more than other things (never regretted that decision)
I see. What is your part at AngeryGaming as a Co-Founder?
As Co-Founder we manage the streaming team that we have built. We handle every section of AngeryGaming, we share our knowledge with new streamers who wish to join the streaming industry and we aim on making streaming and gaming a full time career option in India.
Also, we are coming up something new and interesting very soon! (we are expanding)
That’s great. What are your current and future plans? Where do you see AngeryGaming and yourself in 5 years?
In India, we want to make eSports more relevant, educate the streamer base, introduce a Professional eSports team, grow the Twitch community, make eSports and streaming a viable full-time career, and provide our upcoming streamers a platform to learn and establish themselves when we ourselves are quite established.
We want to expand AngeryGaming in every aspect and entertain the viewers in our streams. At some point, we would hold Free Entry Community Gaming Events, which will provide upcoming casters a base to start with.
Those are some great plans. What were the struggles you went through in your journey of making AngeryGaming one of the top streaming teams in India?
Hardware was one of the main issues but slowly it’s all getting resolved. Finding a nice ISP was difficult too. We had to make our parents understand what this is all about. Some people joined and left us after a while, making us unsure about our dedication but presently we have our team fully locked and loaded. Managing our personal lives and not lacking in them was a huge struggle.
We never really saw other streamers as competition but rather we challenged ourselves every day to get better than yesterday and at the end of the day we all our one single community and wish to grow along the one but some people do not cooperate.
That is some good thinking on not seeing others as a competition. Clearly you guys have got through these struggles with your dedication & passion for gaming! How did your parents react to you choosing gaming & streaming as a career? What was their take on this?
We are not full-time streamers as of now and as for our parents who know that we are doing such a thing are supportive to certain extent.
We have 6 streamers in our team as for now –
- Rohan “Fragmayo” Pandav
- Ruhi “MBunnyX” Dighe
- Prajay “Venom11” Rathod
- Ashwin “Penguins” Srinivas
- Chinmay “M1DAS” Rane
- Prithvi “HomeBoyX” Rathod
Since I am mentioning my stream team, I will mention more names who work as the back end team
- Gaurav Goro Singh – Graphic Designer
- Saransh Verma – Editor and Legal Consultant
- Kasif Paradox Sayyed – Backup streamer
- Rohan GunFrags Desai (Management)
I see. What are your thoughts about the current gaming scene in India?
We personally have seen a lot of growth in gaming in the past 2 years and we believe if the community is willing enough to not only complain but even support this movement then in the coming 5 years or maybe lesser the Indian eSports scene will bloom like it has never before.
I agree. The eSports scene has really boomed in the past years. Last question, what advice would you have for someone who wants to choose gaming as a career in India? And what message would you have for parents?
Advice – Consistency, Punctuality, Determination, hard work & creativity are the keys to success in this industry.
Message for parents – Trust your child, let them do what they dream to as long as it does not affect them badly, Give them a little space so they can figure out what do they want to focus on. Expose them to the real working of the world.
A message to new ones in this field make sure that you study along with your eSports and gaming, keep this in mind. Improvise, adapt and overcome!
